"If there were less embarrassment and stigma about a girl starting her periods, women regularly menstruating and the menopause, it would enable women of all ages to talk more openly about women’s health, share their knowledge and smash the stigma" (Katharine Gale)

After nearly three decades as a senior clinical leader in the NHS, I founded FluxState to empower women to understand their bodies and know their minds so that they can manage menopause in a state of flow.

As an independent Consultant Nurse in Women’s Health, a certified coach and an expert on menstrual health and wellbeing, I work as an advisor to businesses and organisations wanting to support employees around the time of the menopause.

I am an experienced speaker and podcast guest with an in depth knowledge of subjects related to the menopause and menstrual health. Below are a selection of topics that I can speak about.

I am also happy to work with you to shape the content to your audience.

“Katharine is a passionate and fascinating speaker bringing gravitas and insight to her topics and ensuring her audience are engaged from beginning to end. Highly recommend!”

Topics

  • Menopause

All of us women, every single one of us will go through the menopause with some of us finding it easier than others.

Approximately 13 million women in the U.K are either leading up to the menopause or post-menopausal with 80% of menopausal women in employment.

In this general awareness session suitable for all, I cover the basics of the menopause and explores what support looks like for women to thrive in the menopause.

  • Smashing Stigma

I am committed to a future where we see an end to the stigma around women's health.

As women, we aren’t sure what normal looks like; we are ashamed of our body shape; we worry we are different to other women and often ignorant about our own anatomy.

I empower women to seek medical advice when necessary. I want them to be able to make an informed choice about the best treatment for them and to ensure that they are treated with dignity and respect.

  • Menstrual Wellbeing

On average a woman will menstruate for 37 years of her life, have 13 periods a year, 500 periods during their reproductive life and spend 6.5 years of their life menstruating.

As a member of the Menstrual Health Coalition, I speak regularly to audiences about menstrual wellbeing with the aim of normalising menstruation, reducing the stigma around talking about periods and advocating for improvements in supporting women affected by menstrual health conditions.

  • Women's Health

Women’s health has gone through such a journey and we sometimes take for granted the advances in healthcare that women, just a hundred years ago would never have dreamt of.

I explore the history of these developments and the subject of women’s health at every stage of life from puberty to motherhood and the menopause. I also speak regularly on the importance of focussing on women's health in the workplace - in order to create productive and nurturing environments for all personnel.
